Also known as the chiropractic adjustment, spinal manipulation is performed to restore motion to dysfunctional spinal segments. Dysfunctional spinal segments can lead to loss of range of motion, pain, as well as joint degeneration. In our office we use well established techniques from the Motion Palpation Institute and Palmer Package. These are evidence based hands on techniques aimed at restoring and improving joint motion.
Many people do not know that chiropractors treat extremity pain and dysfunction. We treat extremity joint pain and dysfunction in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles, and feet. To treat these, we use a combination of techniques including: Motion Palpation Institute, Palmer Package, and upper & lower extremity techniques from Dr. Mitch Mally.
Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM ) and cupping are both soft tissue treatment modalities that aim to improve the function of targeted tissue. IASTM uses a compressive force with a stainless steel instrument to glide over the skin and break up myofascial adhesions. While Cupping provides a de-compressive force to improve function and microcirculation, aiding in tissue healing
Myofascial release involves the use of dynamic movement of tissue under tension. This breaks myofascial adhesions, improves range of motion, and can help to decrease pain levels. This treatment is intended to improve the quality of function of soft tissue and promote healing.
MDT stems from courses by the Mckenzie Institute International. It is a diagnostic tool used to determine a patients directional preference. This diagnostic tool seconds as a treatment with repetitive end range movement, where the patient plays an active role in their recovery.
This will mostly be seen as personalized exercise plans given to patients to compliment treatments. Our goal is to give you the tools to take an active role in your care. Taking an active role in your care leads to fewer visits and better outcomes for patients.
